Tiny Stitches Newsletter- June 2006
Meeting dates for June:
No, this is not the end of the June newsletter. It is appropriate to mix things up a bit so we will all need to read to the end for all the news. During the pre-pack day on Wednesday, members of the board jotted down some ideas to improve what we do. (If you remember hearing these before, bear with us- all along there are new volunteers and regulars who are trying something new.) Do not purchase fabric or yarn you wish to be reimbursed for without prior authorization from the board. Our bank balance is now under $10,000 and dwindling faster than it is growing right now. We have plenty of fabric of all kinds right now. Either resin or metal snaps can be used on sleepers. However metal snaps should always be used on tote bags- they are sturdier. Please do NOT use knit fabric to make receiving blankets. Some sold in stores are made of knit but that fabric is too expensive for us to use for that. We are still getting odd sized garments- extra wide and/or short. In the near future we plan to have every group cut new patterns to overcome these problems. Each time we prepack there are garments people have turned in that we can’t use. When making lapfront shirts and gowns , it is important to have fabric with ample stretch We do not like to waste your time and effort- so please check to be sure your patterns are the right size. .Lap pads and burp clothes need to be sewn and turned. Just serging around ( or zig-zaging around) is not neat enough. We have to take our stuff out of the extra storage unit that we have been using FREE for a few months.. IF YOU WANT ANY OF THE LACE OR OTHER STUFF IN THAT UNIT THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GET RID OF YOU WILL NEED TO GET IT AFTER THE MONDAY MEETING. Frank says that one is the only one that size and they -need that space available to rent . Gloria will be on vacation for two weeks starting June 18th. Contact any other board member if you need help. Summer is vacation time but needy babies are continuing being born. We are delivering 54 layettes this month.. |
