Tiny stitches Newsletter- May 2004

Hope everyone had a great Mothers' Day weekend.- My apologies for this newsletter being tardy.

From the desk of the President: Just a reminder that although we love for our volunteers to be creative, there are reasons for some of our construction guidelines. Please remember no ties on anything, no Velcro on anything and the only things with serged edges are blankets (fleece or flannel).

We are now adding creepers or diaper shirts to the bags for the summer. Pattern used for the diaper shirts is McCall's 2490- do not follow the directions calling for Velcro- use snaps. For those that make the lapfront shirts, we are down to 1 shirt and will need about 200 for June.

Gowns and sleepers can be made short sleeved and/or footless. We will continue to collect sweaters all summer to be ready for winter. We need more boy sweaters.
Anyone that is willing to make burial garments, we need under 2 pound size garments, both boy and girl. We need memory envelopes also.
Last month one snap press was purchased for each work group. Be sure to check it out- they are much quieter than the hammer method.
Gloria reported at the business meeting that we have already delivered 142 bags this year, containing 5535 items- this is about the same as we delivered in the first 4 months of 2003.
Beginning in May, will be making deliveries to Habersham Regional Hospital.
