Tiny Stitches Newsletter Feb. 2004

My computer is feeling much better- thank you. After being attacked by the latest virus, thanks to the know-how of my son, my computer and I are healthy  and back on line. Hope all of you escaped this bug.

REMINDER- get supply requests to Gloria (gloriabantekas@aol.com) 678-482-8360 or Cathy (geeftemple@charter.net) 770-945-6818 by this FRIDAY.

We now have a third warehouse (donated by the owner of My Extra Attic) that is awaiting the arrival of the donated sergers and snapsetters coming from Garan.  We have had several donations recently- $500 from Citibank because of the volunteer work done by Shari Hoffman for us. Also the Buford Rotary Club made a donation when we spoke to their meeting this month and a member sent his personal donation later.

Those of us who do most of the packaging are constantly amazed at all the beautiful items turned in each month- 99% are "better than store bought". Every now and then there are a few items that are not quite as they should be. We do not know who has made these so we cannot quietly speak to the person or persons.

Those people making the gowns with the lap shoulders, please be sure to stretch the neck binding to pull the neck opening in tighter- also be sure to overlap the shoulders more, this will reduce the size of the neck opening. Those people making the burp cloths and lap pads need to put them together wrong side out, stitch and turn, then hand stitch the opening closed. Follow this by stitching a few quilt lines around or across the pad. This is the preferred procedure- some have been finished by zigzag  stitching and they are too harsh on the edge  for the babies.

IMPORTANT DATES- Tiny Stitches 5th birthday party- Feb. 28th, 11am to 2pm at Bunten Road Park in Duluth. Invited guests will include some donors as well as those who work with us at the hospitals. RSVP no later than FEB 23 to Gloria or Cathy.

** If you have e-mail and have not received the invitation online, contact Cathy.

Sewing EXPO at the Gwinnett Civic Center on March 11, 12, and 13. Tiny Stitches will again have a booth (at no cost to us!). Some of our volunteers learned about us there last year-hopefully we will get more good folks this year.
