Tiny Stitches-October Newsletter 2003
This newsletter may seem a bit scrambled.
The important stuff first then the fun and exciting things later.
Gloria and Cathy worked in the warehouse this morning. We have an abundance of boy items. The present inventory is: Packaged gowns-6 girls, 9 boys, 3 either (WE NEED GOWNS); Packaged sleepers- 22 girls, 11 either, 27-30 boys (we stopped counting at 25) We also have 3 bins of lap pads and burp cloths. We suggest that people making these items change to bibs and knit hats. People making afghans please be sure they measure at least 36 x 36 inches. We cannot put the smaller ones in the bags. Remember the October business meeting is next Monday at Atlanta Sewing Center . Contact Gloria right away if you need supplies. (gloriabantekas@aol.com or678-482-8360) Martha Vinot, the Marietta group leader, reports that the Marietta group skipped their meeting last month so they could attend the Cobb Quilt Guild show. Three regulars and three sometime attendees to the Marietta meetings attended the Sept. 19th event. One regular who ordinarily brings brautifully knitted afghans, was eager to learn quilting. She has signed up for a beginners quilting class and is already working on a precious baby quilt top for Tiny Stitches. The group is refreshed and motivated to keep those babies clothed and warm this winter. We made a presentation to the Alpharetta Kiwanis on Sept. 17. By the time we left, we had checks for $700 with a promise of more to come. At the workshop, Shari Hoffman presented us a grant of $3000 from Citicorp. Thanks to the Alpharetta group, we received a check for $2883 which was a portion of the profits from the Lil' Angels Consignment Sale at the Alpharetta Methodist Church. Many thanks to all of these generous people. We are eagerly awaiting the delivery of a large donation of fabric that we expect to arrive any day. (This is another of Rosa's finds) We are still planning to go to the OCHO sale next week but purchases will be adjusted after we get the donated fabric. Please check with Debbie or Gloria before making large purchases for Tiny Stitches. Important dates for this month:
