Tiny Stitches August Newsletter 2003

Apologies for this month's newsletter being tardy. I'll try to do better next month.

At the business meeting, Gloria reported we have had seven donations this month totalling $615 Thanks to Rayann Walker, Rosa McGeehin and others who are working hard to let people know about Tiny Stitches.

Cathy Temple and Gloria Bantekas made a presentation to the Duluth Kiwanis Club on July 23rd. We were impressed by their attention and the questions they asked. One member gave a check for $100. Another member called later and put Gloria and Rayann in touch with another grant program. A couple of the ladies expressed interest in working with us.

Thanks to Debbie, Gloria,Melanie,Lauren and Cathy for straightening the supply warehouse. As we sorted the finished items, we noticed the lap-pads are getting smaller. PLEASE make the finished lap pads a MINIMUM of 14 inches square. Cut them at least 15 inches square.

After the business meeting, we packed 38 layettes and they have all been delivered. As usual, the need continues to be for sleepers, gowns, and lap-front shirts. There is very little "back-stock" in the items, Finish any diaper shirts you have started as September will be the last month for this summer to use these.

Sallie Wooten from Auburn, AL. learned about us at EXPO and has been inquiring about starting a similar group there. Gloria has been answering her questions. Sallie's lawyer husband has been helping her with the organization requirements. Sallie has decided to name her group "Sewing Seeds". We wish her great success!
